Summerveld Equine Hospital is situated on 80 acres in the picturesque area of Summerveld, the hub of Kwazulu Natal Racing, where we have been serving our clients and their horses with the best veterinary care since 1969.

The hospital offers a 24 hour emergency service and has in-house patient facilities for 20 horses. As a busy equine hospital numerous procedures are performed under general anaesthesia, eg orthopedic, opthalmic, upper airway and abdominal surgeries. Medical cases and lameness investigations make up
a large part of the work done in the hospital. Modern diagnostic equipment including videoendoscopy, ultrasound scanners, shock wave therapy unit and x ray machines are used extensively in the hospital and in the field.

This modern hospital with superb facilities also acts as a base for an ambulatory service, covering an extensive area in the southern region of Kwazulu Natal including racing centres Summerveld, Ashburton and Clairwood.

Dr Ralph Katzwinkel, Dr Fleming and Dr Tom Ovendale and Dr Lauren Brewis together with their dedicated team of staff aim to give all equine patients the highest quality medical and surgical care possible
